Lesson 3 of 4

Notes & studying that actually stick

Re-reading the textbook feels like studying but barely works. What works is making your brain PULL the information out, not just look at it.

  • Quiz yourself instead of re-reading — cover the page and say it out loud, or make flash cards.
  • Teach it to someone (or to the wall). If you can explain it simply, you know it. If you can’t, you don’t — yet.
  • Write notes in YOUR words, not the book’s. Copying is napping with your eyes open.
  • Space it out — 20 minutes tonight and 20 tomorrow beats 40 minutes once. Your brain locks in what it sees twice.

Coach Fite

You don’t get better at a route by watching film of it once. You run it till your body owns it. Same with a fact — make your brain run the rep, out loud, till it owns it.
